Description

Poor Man Husband Casserole is a cozy, budget-friendly layered dish with beef, noodles, creamy sauce, and lots of cheese—pure comfort in a pan.


Ingredients

Scale

1 pound ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

1 tsp garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

15 oz tomato sauce

8 oz egg noodles

1 cup sour cream

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. In a skillet, cook beef and onion until browned. Season.

3. Add tomato sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.

4. Cook noodles until al dente, drain.

5. Mix sour cream and cream cheese in a bowl.

6. Layer half the noodles in a 9×13 dish.

7. Spread half the cream mix over noodles.

8. Top with half the meat sauce, then 1 cup cheese.

9. Repeat layers and top with remaining cheese.

10. Cover and bake for 20 mins, then uncover and bake 10 more.

11. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Substitute ground turkey or pasta of choice.

Add vegetables like bell peppers or spinach.

Can be assembled ahead or frozen for later.
