This Homemade Brown Sugar Chicken Marinade transforms ordinary chicken into a juicy, caramelized masterpiece, balancing sweet and savory notes with a rich glaze.

1.5 – 2 lbs Chicken Breasts or Thighs
1/2 cup Dark Brown Sugar
1/3 cup Low-Sodium Soy Sauce
1/4 cup Olive Oil
2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
3 cloves Fresh Garlic, minced
1 tsp Ground Ginger
1/2 tsp Black Pepper
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl or large resealable bag, combine brown sugar, soy sauce, olive oil, and apple cider vinegar. Whisk until the sugar dissolves
- Add minced garlic, ground ginger, and black pepper to the mixture. Stir well
- Add chicken to the marinade, ensuring it is evenly coated. If using a bag, squeeze out excess air before sealing
- Refrigerate to marinate for at least 30 minutes, ideally 4 to 6 hours, but not exceeding 24 hours
- When ready to cook, preheat your grill to medium-high heat or oven to 400°F
- Remove chicken from the marinade and discard excess liquid. Grill or bake until the internal temperature reaches 165°F, approximately 6-8 minutes per side or 20-25 minutes in the ove
- Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving

Chicken can be frozen in the marinade for up to 3 months, allowing it to marinate as it thaws.
